Who is author Jennifer Blake?

Jennifer Blake has been called a “pioneer of the romance genre”, and an “icon of the romance industry.” A New York Times and international best selling author since 1977, she is a charter member of Romance Writers of America, member of the RWA Hall of Fame, and recipient of the RWA Lifetime Achievement Rita. She holds numerous other honors, including two “Maggies”, two Holt Medallions, multiple Reviewer’s Choice Awards, the Career Achievement Award from Romantic Times BookReviews Magazine, and the Frank Waters Award for literary excellence. She has written over 60 books with translations in 20 languages and more than 30 million copies in print worldwide.

Jennifer and her husband reside in a lakeside Caribbean-style retreat in North Louisiana where they often entertain family and friends. Always a gardener, she spends much of her time encouraging her garden to bloom with her favorite daylilies and antique roses. She also enjoys walking her two dogs, Buffy and Lucky, and indulging in needlework, painting, and travel.

SHALLA CHATS with the VP and Editorial Director of Sourcebooks, Todd Stocke

For authors everywhere who's looking for the perfect publisher, I got the best news... I've been interviewing them--publishers--and they're looking for clients.

So, take a listen, jot down notes on what they're looking for and maybe this one's the right book publisher for you.

This is also available at amazon.com (for those who'd like it mailed to them in a CD, SHALLA Publishing is selling them at amazon.com for the special, unbeatable price of 99cents. For a CD, we're checking how to get them to you at the lowest prices). We're just writers helping out other writers.

Todd Stocke is vice president and editorial director of Sourcebooks, a leading independent book publisher based in Naperville, Illinois. As editorial director, he oversees every Sourcebooks imprint and the company's efforts in every category, including most areas of nonfiction, fiction, romance novels, mixed-media, calendars, young adult, and children's books. A native of Minnesota, he got his start in publishing at renowned fiction and poetry house Coffee House Press and was a bookseller before he began at Sourcebooks in 1994. Todd was editor of We Interrupt This Broadcast, the format-breaking mixed-media book that was Sourcebooks' first New York Times bestseller, and its follow-up, And The Crowd Goes Wild, one of the bestselling sports anthologies ever. During his time at Sourcebooks, he has overseen the growth of its list from 10 new titles a year to its current annual output of 300.

For authors everywhere who's looking for the perfect agent, I got the best news... I've been interviewing them--literary agents--and they're looking for clients.

Kelly Sonnack comes to the Andrea Brown Literary Agency after nearly three years with the Sandra Dijkstra Literary Agency where she agented children's work. In picture books and middle grade fiction, she looks for a good sense of humor, stories that stretch a young reader's imagination, and an authentic voice. In young adult, she appreciates literary voices and character-driven stories with heart. In nonfiction for children, she enjoys projects that inspire and stimulate the minds of our younger generations. She is not accepting submissions in adult fiction or adult nonfiction.
